A.The ForumsA1.Forum Admins-The Admin Team is made up of one 'Council Administrators', two 'Knight Administrators' and one 'Official Biography Overseer'. Council Administrators are the ones in charge of the community and may do as they please. Council Admins are seen with their names in
green. Council administrators approve all biographies, but usually leave Faction biographies to their rightful Faction Leaders. If a Council Admin thinks an approval wrong, they are permitted to deny a biography previously accepted by a Faction Leader.
Knight Administrators are seen with their names in
blue. They have authority when a council member is not online or available. Knight Admins may approve any biographies they wish, but still require a council admin to move the topic and check over their approval. Knight Administrators may be removed due to inactivity on the forum
AND/OR server, the inability to do their job correctly, or allowing destructive actions to be left alone.
An admin does not need to give you a warning to kick, ban, silence, or freeze you.
The Official Biography Overseer is in charge of reviewing biographies. Their name is seen in the colour of
purple. They have the power to deny or approve biographies.
A2.Language-Language is always different between members. It is required here on Preservation that you can type in English, however. Obscene words should be restricted to the Irrelevant Section of the 'Cantina', but they don't have to be unless it gets out of hand. Obscene language is permitted in text roleplay and biographies, but remember, this is Star Wars, certain words do not mean as they do in the real world.
Racism of any kind will result in a ban immediately.
A3.Content-Content includes pictures, videos, music, and any other material you place within your posts and profiles. It is strictly forbidden to have any pornography within your profile or post. Posts that host very large images may be edited by admins to have the spoiler tag for faster loading. With videos, if anything extremely violent or disturbing, including constant harsh language is shown, please give a warning above or below the video.
A4.Text Roleplaying-Text Roleplaying is when you can not make it onto the server, or you wish for a Roleplay to last over many days. Text Roleplaying usually is seen as introductions to upcoming events, or perhaps even just a passtime until some members start arriving on the server. Text Roleplay may also be used when an RP is more boring and does not have much to be done, such as the leader of a faction receiving a comm message, or just a talk between two characters.
Do not fool around in Text Roleplays. If you have anything to say OOCly, please put your message in red and/or in parenthesis and/or put 'OOC:' before it.
A5.Forum Events-Events on the forum are very rare, but possible. If an event is hosted on the forum, it should be in the Text RP section with the tag [EVENT] before its title. Events on the forum can be very hectic and may need admin supervision at all times, so they are not suggested.
A6.Technology-RPG Preservation is based 448 years after the battle of Yavin. Technology will remain the same as seen in the films. The Technology forum is constantly updated with ships, droids, weapons, armor, and other items. If you wish to contribute/suggest/request a piece of technology (along with an image to support it if possible), give Leeroy a message on Xfire (Breakdown94) or send him a PM on the forum.
A7.Download Section-The Download section is filled with models, sabers, vehicles, maps, and other useful files you might need on the server. Just click the link to download the file. If you want to contribute to the section hosting these files, post right in it along with a link to the file.
A8.Advertising-Advertising other servers is prohibited. The only reason to mention a community is if you have taken a file (with permission) from that community, and have stated that you have. Any other reason will likely not be accepted.
B.FactionsB1.Applying for a Faction Position-Joining a faction is what makes RP go around. If you wish to have your neutral aligned character join a faction, you must go to a recruiter or high ranked character and request to join the faction. Asking a private in a faction will not suffice, due to their inexperience and lack of authority, but they may point you in the right direction.
B2.Faction Leaders-Faction Leaders are the members who control their designated faction. Faction Leaders are not admins, unless it is In Character in their own faction. Faction Leaders also are allowed to make their own rules for their factions, as well as any additional information they wish to put within their faction.
B3.Chain of Command-Ranks within a faction are a big part of Roleplay. A high level character might have a higher chance of getting killed, due to their important stature. Low ranked characters may not be permitted to go on operations and such, due to their inexperience. Ranks are different in all factions depending on how the Faction Leader sets them up.
B4.Sub-Factions-Sub-Factions are additional organizations or units branching off of the main faction. Sub-Factions are run by a Sub-Faction leader, not the Faction Leader themselves. The Sub-Faction leader must have permission from the Faction Leader to make eventful changes. Sub-Factions have their own rules, rosters, and leaders. Sub-Factions may also break away from their main faction, but may suffer huge consequences.
B5.Faction Power-Factions can easily get overpowered. Large organizations like the canon Empire are known for their almost limitless ships and forces, but small factions such as the canon Rebellion needed to work their way up piece by piece and can not risk as much as large factions can. Be careful with your choices in Roleplay, for it can affect the outcome of the faction in the end.
B6.Non-Playable Factions-Some factions are non-playable due to either being non-canon, not having enough interested members, or another reason. Non-playable factions could become factions in the future, but it is not certain.
C.BiographiesC1.What Faction?-Choosing your faction is always the first thing you should decide when creating a character. Whether to go Force Sensitive, Military, or maybe just Neutral. Make sure you choose the faction you know you want this character in, for it might be hard to get them out if you change your mind. Some factions, if failing, may need your help to bring them back up, but your character could possibly be harmed in the process. Choose wisely.
C2.What Species?-Star Wars has a galaxy full of different life. Species is likely to be your second decision in your character. Choosing your species for your character can have positive or negative effects on your roleplaying. Certain species are restricted from member use due to their powerful nature. Some communities allow Non-Canon species; this is prohibited on Preservation. The only way your character is to be of Non-Canon origin is if it is a droid within the technology section.
Force Vampires are prohibited from being used. They are considered to be Non-Canon here and are to be treated as such. Milalukas are also restricted to a point. Due to their major genocide on Katarr during the Old Republic, they are limited to 2 males, 2 females, and 2 hybrid species Miralukas.
C3.What Gender?-Gender takes a big role on your roleplay. Certain factions do not even accept females due to being sexist to an extent. Gender can also affect how other characters react to your character. Determining your gender is also a huge role in making your character. Choose wisely.
C4.History-Your characters history can affect how your characters personality molds into the roleplay. Roleplaying the character for a week or so before you write the history can help you pull together a good history. Make sure your history does not include major war events that happened during the timeline. Sometimes a larger depth history is required for a character to be taken seriously.
C5.Vehicles-Characters are permitted to have vehicles initially. Neutral characters are not, however, permitted to own anything larger than a corvette.
C6.Weapons-The weapons characters own are to be the only ones the character uses, unless they Roleplay gaining new ones. Weapons must be accompanied with a JKA weapon partner, for them to be fired fairly.
C7.Force Sensitives-Force Sensitives are always at a higher risk of capture, death, and even corruption than normal characters. Force Sensitives can also be sought out easier than normal characters when being pursued by other Force Sensitives.
C8.Overpoweredness-Overpoweredness is a very annoying issue to deal with. The prime example of Overpoweredness is Galen Marek AKA Starkiller from The Force Unleashed series. No one on Preservation is Starkiller. Council Admins have the right to void any roleplays that involve overpowered actions.
D.ComplaintsD1.Filing a Complaint-When you wish to complain about an issue you find not right, post it in the complaints section. Do not bump your topic, the admins will get to it. Also, make sure your complaint is justified and is not just to get someone in trouble. If the admins find out that you have done this, they can put the punishment upon you instead.
D2.Metagaming-To metagame is to use information you know Out of Character and use it In Character. Doing this is a very serious offense and can result in a void of the Roleplay, or even a kick from the server.
D3.Laming-To lame is to kill someone without reason in roleplay, or kill them while they are trying to roleplay an action or speech. Even one lame can get you kicked or even banned from the server, don't do it. Free For All's break out on all servers all the time, but if someone is Roleplaying, do not disturb them. Go into the alternate dimention (/amaltdim) if you wish to Free For All. If a Knight or Council admin tells your to stop Free For All'ing, you must stop, or be at risk of being kicked or banned.
D4.Powergaming-Powergaming is when you force your action upon someone, not allowing them to retaliate. An example of this is to say you shot someone in the knee, not giving them the chance to block, or dodge the attack. Powergaming can result in a void of the Roleplay, or auto-capture or auto-perm your character.
D5.Ingame Commands and Items-These two commands should be used once you join the server:
/clanpass ooc
/say_team_mod clan
This allows you to view Out of Character chat
After this, you may login to gain member authority by typing:
/amlogin member
Commonly used Emotes:
/amsit
/amsit2
/amsit3
/amsit4
/amwait
/amhips
/amatease
/sleep
/meditate
/flourish
/gloat
/taunt
Any other questions about commands, just ask an admin.
D6.Weapons-Jedi Academy's weapons can be very powerful in certain situations. To gain weapons, type /ammerc in the console. If you abuse this privilege to use weapons at your discretion, you could possibly lose the ability to gain weapons yourself.
Certain lightsabers have been modded to be more powerful or longer, giving the player the advantage over the enemy, although their bio does not state that their lightsaber has these traits. Admins are able to check your lightsaber, and can remove it from you if you try to use a powerfully modded one.
D7.BSing-BSing, otherwise known as Bullshitting, is when you pull something completely unlikely, such as pulling a Star Destroyer out of nowhere, or you survive something completely fatal. BSing can make admins quite angry and you could have your RP voided, or even kick and ban you.
E.The ServerE1.The IP-This is the IP to the server.
69.162.113.85:29055
E2.Ingame Events-Events Ingame are to be watched over by at least one council admin at all times.
E3.Using the Teleport Command-The teleport command is a very useful command that lets you get to your destination quicker. It also helps you get back to a duel you are completing. There are several varieties of how to tele:
/amtelemark (Places a coordinate at your current location)
/amtele (Tele's you to your previously marked coordinate)
/amtele -Name- (Tele's you to the player you designated)
/amtele -Name- -Your name- (Tele's that person to you)
/amtele -Name- -Another Name- (Tele's that person to another person)
/refusetele (Prohibits any tele commands being used on you)
Abusing or spamming the teleport command can result in a kick, ban, or revoke of the teleport command.
E4.DuelsWhen confronted by an enemy character, you may need to engage them in combat. There are variations of kill rules set for duels to keep it realistic:
Death 1: The loser is stumbled, but does not suffer anything that prohibits him or her from fighting. Loser may retreat.
Death 2: The loser is stumbled once again, not suffering anything that prohibits them from fighting. Loser may retreat.
Death 3: The loser is cut or shot in a non-vital area such as the arm or leg. Loser's last chance to retreat
Death 4: The loser is either may surrender, or continue attempting to fight.
Death 5: The loser's outcome is determined by the winner.
Duel Varieties:1v1 Match: Both players will battle until the other is killed. Each time the loser is killed, they must follow the kill rules above.
1v2 Match: All three players will battle, there is no handicap for the non-allied opponent.
1v3 or more Match: All players will battle. The non-allied player has the handicap of 1 extra life.
Saber vs Gun matches:Sabers and guns are not levelled well in Jedi Academy. When a saberist duels with a gunner, the gunner has 1 extra life.
Experience Duels:Some duels are altered due to the experience with a character.
Level 1: Padawan - Initiate / Dark Adept
Level 2: Knight / Inquisitor - Student
Level 3: Master / Grand Inquisitor
Level 4: Grand Jedi Master / Sith Lord
Lvl 1 vs 1 | 2 vs 2 | 3 vs 3 | 4 vs 4: Normal Duel rules
Lvl 1 vs 2 | 2 vs 3 | 3 vs 4: Immediate Jump to Death 2
Lvl 1 vs 3 | 2 vs 4: Immediate Jump to Death 3
Lvl 1 vs 4: Immediate Jump to Death 4 (No escape)
E5.NPC's-NPC's are required in roleplay. They allow even a single character to Roleplay by themselves. NPC's
CAN kill other players. There are several rules for NPC battles, however:
.NPC's are restricted to squads of 6, no more.
.NPC's can not 'bunnyhop'.
.NPC's must use primary fire of their weapons.
.Armored NPC's such as Darktroopers and AT-ST's have 2 lives, but can not be stacked past 2 NPC's.
Non-Battle NPC's have rules as well.
.Your character does
NOT know the merchant in the nearby store. They would
NOT get a discount of a special item from this merchant.
.If you state in your biography that you do know a certain merchant, an admin must watch your purchases to make sure there is no BSing.
You are readyYou are now ready to make a biography. Please when posting your biography, when you have finished the history, please put this symbol in the topic description to show you have read the rules carefully: ✓
